Dave Brown, better known as "Brownie", is an RnB soul and funk disc jockey on Solar Radio Mon - Fri between 1 and 4 p.m. BST (8 to 11 a.m. EST) on Sky 0129 www.solarradio.com, who started his broadcasting career in the early 1980s for BBC Radio Medway (which later became BBC Radio Kent) presenting the Mid-Morning Talk & Music Show 9 -11am Monday to Friday, with an audience bigger than Radio 1 in its transmission area. During this period he earned a reputation for having one of the most listened to Soul Shows in the UK on Friday nights across the South East of the UK. Playing soul sounds including Donald Byrd, Patrice Rushen, George Duke, Teddy Pendergrass Aretha Franklin and many more.
He worked for Radio Orwell & Saxon (now known as Heart FM) in East Anglia presenting Saturday's 6-9pm 'Boogie Down' with Dave Brown & Sunday Lunchtimes. He left the BBC in October 1987 joining Invicta Radio, the commercial Radio Station for Kent, leaving in 1991 to pursue business interests.
Dave returned to Radio in 1996 as a programming consultant for Essex Radio during their application for a new dance station 'Vibe FM', which went on air November 1998 covering the East of England, now known as Total Kiss. He presented the popular R'n'B show 'Brown Beats' until 2001.
Dave joined Solar Radio in April 2004, with his daily show Monday to Friday 1pm till 4pm. He is also a regular contributor to "The Juke Joint" on Kiss 98.7 Birmigham, Alabama.[1]
